Jeffrey G. Hoppen · From 2004 to 2008, Managing Director, Co-Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Sovereign Investment Company. Sovereign is one of the leading owners of net lease real estate in the U.S., having acquired nearly $1 billion of net lease properties. Mr. Hoppen headed Sovereign’s investment, underwriting, operating and finance functions and was responsible for debt and equity raising.
· From 2001 to 2003, Chief Investment Officer of Marcus & Millichap Company, responsible for investment underwriting/approval and debt and equity raising for the real estate entities owned by this holding company.
· From 1998 to 2000, VP, Finance at TriNet Corporate Realty/iStar Financial, responsible for all borrowing and joint ventures, with an exclusive focus on net lease assets. He worked on transactions totaling over $1 billion.
· From 1991 to 1998, Director, Bank of Montreal, Chicago, where he was one of the two senior executives responsible for structuring loans, credit underwriting and marketing the Bank’s capital markets products to its U.S. commercial real estate clients.
· Bachelor of Commerce - University of Toronto, MBA - York University
Jonathan C. Varni
· Mr. Varni has been a professional in the real estate industry for 17 years and has extensive experience in both commercial and residential property investments.
· Previous to joining Foundry Capital Partners, he was Managing Partner for Vintage Capital Management, where he directed property investments in partnership with high net worth individuals, real estate funds and endowments. Vintage has completed $257M in investments to date including retail, industrial and entitlement projects. Experience includes all operational facets of running the real estate fund including investment strategy, acquisitions, capital formation and portfolio management.
· Prior to Vintage, Mr. Varni completed $1.3B in acquisitions as an officer for institutional real estate firms JP Morgan, Starwood Urban Investments and the RREEF Funds.
· Education - BA and MBA degrees from Santa Clara University. |
